House cleaning may become very intimidating and stressful if you don’t know how to do it wisely. I In this post, I want to share some small habits I keep up in order to maintain my hom­e clean most of the time and decrease the time spent on heavy cleaning.

1 Always put things in place after using

This is not a secret to anyone but it seems to be the most difficult habit to shape up. I try to teach my kids this simple “rule”: things need putting right back in their places after being used. Not only kids but also I and my husband practice this rule to simplify our life.

2 Use storage boxes to de-clutter your house

Small random things easily make messiness in the house. I tend to use storage boxes to put them all in place. I recommend not to using clear/transparent boxes because you can still see through the clutters inside the boxes – which doesn’t look so nice. Storage boxes can also be easily customizable with some DIYs and always great to décor your house.

3 Label things

Using labels is a very smart way to get organized. It helps homemakers to know right away what in where, especially finding miscellaneous things. In storage or garage, I also use the same method. Besides labels, I make an index of lists stored

4 Never pile up your dishes

If you have a dishwasher at home, it is totally a breeze. If you don’t, it is even absolutely necessary to clean up all dishes every day. Don’t wait until they make a pile in your kitchen – which makes it even more discouraging to put your cleaning mode on. The best way is to clean right away after eating.

5 Make the bed

It takes around 30 second to make the bed but the result is totally rewarding. Sometimes if I am too in hurry for making breakfast and heading to work, I will quickly put the bed cover to cover up all the messy pillows and blankets underneath. It takes not even up to 5 seconds but it helps a lot. Of course I normally do this when in hurry. Most of the time, I try to make the bed more carefully. It is like a morning routine I am sticking to.

I love the quote “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. Planning process can be tiring and time consuming at the beginning. But once the direction is clearly set, the rest is much easier to be achieved.

The action plan will be based a lot of factors you just analyze in the first step. Let’s say you want to earn extra $500 per month. Then you need to break it down. Let’s see the sample below:

  • If you decide to work extra jobs at the salary rate of $25/hour, then you need 20 hours of work.
  • If you decide to sell a product with a profit rate of $50/product, then you need to sell 10 products in order to achieve your extra income goal.

Now you start to frame up the picture of what needs to be done to achieve the goal.

3 Be patient

Things can be really hard at the beginning. You might feel doubtful and ask yourself if it is worthy to put effort for just a moderate amount of extra money. But remember that in a long run, you have the opportunity to expand and grow bigger.

All you need to do now is get started and make commitment. Try to set aside 1 or 2 hours/day (or the amount of time requested) to work on your extra income goal. Your reward can be much more overwhelming than you think. More importantly, it is not only about money. It is about growing as a person and learning new things on the way. Good luck!
